Our Hail Repair Process
Most hail damage can be repaired with a process called Paintless Dent Removal. To start the process, one of our PDR technicians will assess your vehicle’s hail damage and determine if it can be repaired through PDR. After we determine the best course of repairs for you, we will get you on the schedule.
You will call your insurance company and let them know you choose a shop. They may make you get a preliminary estimate, and this is because they are the gatekeepers of the process and money. We will negotiate with your insurance company and get a complete and correct estimate written for the cost of repairs.
During the repair process, we will tear your car down. This process may consist of removing interior panels, taillights, body panels, and other trim pieces that may be obstructing full access to each dent left behind by the hail.
A specialized light is then used to get a better view of each dent. Using a unique set of tools, the technician carefully massages the metal back into shape (sometimes using heat) until the dent returns to its original factory shape.
Once the PDR process is complete, all body panels, interior trim pieces, and other removed parts are put back in place. We do a thorough quality check to ensure everything is functioning and that we fixed every dent left behind on your car.
Insurance
Hail repair is covered under your comprehensive policy. A Comprehensive policy is a type of policy that covers your vehicle in the case of theft or damage done to it through an incident that isn’t a collision, like a tree falling on your car or hail.
When widespread hail or other natural disasters strike, insurance companies set up CAT stations where they can give you a rough estimate of what the damage will cost to repair. At this point, you can cash out what they estimate if you choose not to repair your vehicle, or you will be advised to visit a Body Shop for a more accurate estimate. (We hope you choose us!)
Once our shop has the preliminary estimate, we may issue a supplementary estimate if the insurance company’s initial assessment will not cover the repairs’ cost. Once approved, they can proceed with tearing down and repairing the vehicle.
It’s important to remember that you have the right to choose your repair shop in the state of Minnesota. While the insurance company may “push or steer” their suggested shop on you, they cannot make you go to one of their preferred shops. This is illegal. You have the right to go to the shop of your choice and no one, but you can make that decision.

Dent Kraft is the ultimate place to have door dings removed. Their competition could give a ball park price and not a guarantee on workmanship. I had an outstanding experience with Don and his team at Dent Kraft. My new GMC Canyon AT4X got dinged on the door by flying metal debris on the interstate and left an annoying dent. I drove into Dent Kraft on a Monday to get an estimate and got one right away and also made an appointment for two days later. Fixed the door ding while I waited in their very spacious and comfortable upstairs "loft" -- even did a couple of Zoom meetings for work. Great outcome and a very reasonable price! Can't recommend Dent Kraft enough...
Contacted DentKraft with a difficult door dent and spoke with Don who was great. Emailed photos of the dent to him and he called me with a detailed description of what they normally do, what they would try to do with my dent, and what to expect. Decided to go forward with what was estimated for time and price. Had the repair done in a day and was very satisfied with their work. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car back for future PDR needs.
This is the best place for paintless dent repair. I got a dent in my new car and stopped by for an estimate and the owner Don greeted me and was super helpful. Got an appointment the next day. Turns out I knew Don from when I worked at a dealership back in the 90’s as he worked fixing dents on cars in the used car lot. He did exceptional work and that has only gotten better now! How long will it take to repair?
Our goal is to get your car back on the road and back to pre-accident condition. We don’t want to waste time, and we want you back in your car! Depending on the severity, most cars take two weeks from start to finish on average. When a hail car is VERY severe, it can take longer.
